There are not many options in Sac City, and the Villager seemed reliable based on a few google and Trip Adviser reviews. We ended up eating here on the way through town with two kids and two adults.
The food itself was about what you would find in a Dairy Queen / Brazier. I had the Village Best Burger, which wasn't bad. My wife had the roast beef which seemed pretty tasty although a bit dry. The kids had grilled cheese and a hot dog. The hot dog was what you would find in a gas station, and the grilled cheese was actually really good.
The onion rings are awesome and so are the ice cream desserts. I have to say that everything was really clean and the service was great (even if it was just two teenagers working that night). It's old and run down, but the food is okay as long as you are okay with burgers and such. -

I come here regularly for burgers and they are exceptional. The only complaint I can give is that occasionally, one skinny man will come in and shout "hand me my tendies you mongs." Besdies this disturbance, I highly recommend the Villager.

I've never posted a review. I had to on this one because it was so horrible. Worst service ever. Worst food ever. The place is filthy. It was one of the most depressing places I've ever been in. Our waiter never said hello and slammed our silverware and menus on the table.

I have spent my entire life visiting both sets of my grandparents in Sac City, and nearly every single time, we go to The Villager for at least one meal. Their hot beef sandwich is my FAVORITE in the world. The food is great down home comfort food. Their desserts... So yummy. Be advised there are very few vegetable choices and you very well might engage a local in conversation. I LOVE coming here!!

Worst restaurant I have eatin at in my short 39 years besides the flying J truck stop also somewhere in iowa. I was so mad that I read an article about some other restaurant in sac city won the best hamburger in iowa contest as I was eating at the villager.
